10 Greatest Video Game Voice Performances Of All-Time

1. Nathan Drake - Uncharted Franchise - Voiced By Nolan North You may recognise Nolan North's voice. He's been doing this for a while. A quick perusal of his resume will point out that he was worked on every game ever made in the history of games ever. None of which earned him anywhere near as much critical acclaim as his portrayal of the archetypal everyman Nathan Drake, top-flight treasure hunter of Uncharted fame. Naughty Dog's intentions with Drake were clear: create a character who is universally likeable right off the bat, and even more importantly, instantly relatable. Nolan North brushed off his favourite jeans and casual t-shirt and rustled up some wholesome "adventurer next door" vibes, and we all just wanted to rush out and buy him a beer. Maybe give him a high five. Or a hug. Whatever you're into. The point is, because of the humanity which North brought to the character - with his off-the-cuff quips, his unpretentious style, his non-threatening charm - we felt compelled to follow his story to the end. More so than we might have been if they had turned him into just another aggressive caveman with a gravelly voice and pervading mommy issues. Once again, the quality of the script plays a big part in the success of an endearing character like Nathan Drake - Or NateĀ€ can we call you Nate? Sure we can - but it was North, a rock star in this industry, who took that script and built a character with almost tangible personality. And personality goes a long way. Like this article?
