10 Most Grotesquely Violent Video Games Ever

5. Postal 2

You may have heard of the incredibly controversial Postal 2 for all manner of undesirable reasons. Postal 2 was banned in several countries including Australia, Sweden and Malaysia for its graphic depiction of violence and cruelty so of course it belongs on this list. The people behind Postal 2 tried to defend the game by saying the level of violence is entirely down to the player; this seems a little dubious as your character is always subject to attacks in some form or other which require a suitably violent counterattack.

The horrendous levels of violence depicted in Postal 2 are instigated by your enemies. A group of people who hate books set the library on fire and threaten to murder everyone inside which obviously requires you to €˜go postal€™ to save other people. When you€™re not dismembering bodies you can also engage in one activity which enraged people in New Zealand: urinating on the ruined corpses of your enemies. Apparently the violence wasn€™t enough for the guys over at Running with Scissors, Inc. and they just had to continue pushing the boundaries they had crossed a long time ago. With all it€™s controversy Postal 2 is infamous amongst gamers for being one of the most violent video games of all time; a feat that arguably convinces more people to play it.
