Goro Akechi is one of the driving forces of Persona 5, as the young talented detective who is attempting to uncover how you and your friends are "fixing" a series of depraved and lawless individuals.

And he succeeds well enough to net himself a spot of the team... admittedly through blackmail, but a spot none the less. In fact, it actually works in your favour that he does, as Goro has a move set that is actually pretty massively useful since he's the only character other than you who is capable of utilising several different elemental move types.

But this isn't to last, as he's ultimately too dang messed up to realise that all you really want is to hang out with him (and to maybe fix the world, but it's a secondary goal).

Hilariously, there's a chance you might get to this point of the game sure that Akechi has managed to permanently fix himself into the roster, as the Royal version of the game actually has him return later to be a long-term party member who stays until the end of the game.

Whereas, in the regular version, he very much does not, leaving your relationship with him all the more complicated.
