The one genuinely painful thing about Mhairi is that you've very, very little chance of being able to predict that she's a temporary team mate.

Because, unlike any other temporary party member, Mhairi has an approval meter, which suggests she's a permanent addition to the roster - or, at least, that (spoilers) she isn't going to just straight up die without at least a side quest you can complete related to her or something.

Indeed, the cleverest - and most misleading - part of all this is that, because her character is fleshed out in ways that suggest you're going to learn more about her past and help her go through the Joining, you don't even consider if she's just here as a friendly face to slaughter in order to make you feel something.

But... that's exactly what happens, and more than a few of us are likely still pretty salty about this one. Justice for Mhairi, man.
