10 Hidden Gems On Nintendo Switch
5. A Case Of Distrust
If you're a fan of noir fiction, A Case of Distrust is a great game for you. It's a narrative game that's a blend of point-and-click adventures and a hidden object game.
As you can see from the screenshot, the game consists of 2D silhouetted pictures with interactive environments and dialogue trees. You play as private eye, Phyllis Cadence Malone, and if that surname doesn't give it away, then exploring speakeasies, barber shops, and seedy bars will surely indicate that this is noir at its clichéd best.
Set in 1924 San Francisco, A Case of Distrust sees Malone get a knock on her messy apartment door, from a man by the name of Greene. The man hires Malone to find out who sent him a threatening letter and, as one might imagine, the story twists and turns until you're pulling on narrative threads that threaten to turn San Francisco on its head.
You meet sleazy businessmen who are hiding secrets, and women you are much more than the femme fatale they initially seem. It's up to you to dig for information, then turn them against each other to get an inch closer to the truth. Cheesy or not, A Case of Distrust is a masterful narrative adventure.
