10 Hidden PS3 Gems You Should Track Down
3. Dark Sector (2008)
Third-person shooters weren't exactly in short supply during the PS3 era, with games like Uncharted and its sequels proving some of the most popular of the generation. Developers needed a hook to ensure their releases stood up alongside such steep competition, and Dark Sector certainly provided that.
Digital Extremes' gritty science fiction offering was all about the Glaive, a triple-bladed organic weapon protagonist Hayden Tenno (voiced by Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum) grows from his arm after being inflected with weird a techy virus.
Players could hurl the Glaive at unsuspecting enemies or simply use it to slice and dice them head on. Moreover, Hayden could also use it to deliver some of the most brutal finishing moves outside of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
It's these bloody coup de graces that makes Dark Sector worth a look. Those who enjoy games which pull no punches when it comes to grisly violence won't be disappointed when they're beheading foes or Glaiveing them in half.
