10 Hidden PS3 Gems You Should Track Down

2. Fat Princess (2009)

Enslaved odyssey to the west
Sony

Fat Princess thrust players into chaotic 16-on-16 catch the flag contests, except in this instance the flag weighed more than 300 pounds.

There are princesses to rescue, but not in the traditional sense. The opposing team has been feeding your highness up with magical cake, so it takes a Herculean effort to transport her across the battlefield. Your squad, of course, has been the same thing to theirs, so the war could easily go either way.

Battles are chaotic bursts of madcap cartoon mayhem: rangers fire muskets back and forth, dark priests drain your army's energy like leeches, and a section of your squad is struggling to carry the portly princess through all of this carnage.

Fat Princess offered one of the best online multiplayer experiences on the PS3, but it's just as fun to take offline and play locally with friends (there's also a story mode and a bunch of other options for those who don't have any).

Vacant slots on the teams are assigned to AI characters, so the lack of online support doesn't mean the game's trademark carnage has to be toned down.
