10 Horror Video Games BANNED For Being Too Scary

3. Plague Inc.

Hit mobile RTS game Plague Inc. has enjoyed a massive resurgence in popularity over the last few months per present global circumstances.

The game once again became a best-selling iPhone app in China, at least until the country's government pulled Plague Inc. from sale in February of this year under extremely shady circumstances.

The Cyberspace Administration of China reasoned that the game suddenly contained "illegal content," though provided no extra information to developers Ndemic Creations.

It's been intensely - and convincingly - theorised that China's banning of the game was directly related to a "Fake News" update released in December of last year on the eve of the initial Wuhan outbreak.

The update, which allowed players to disseminate false information and watch it spread, clearly struck a nerve with a Chinese government facing intense scrutiny over possible cover-ups related to the present outbreak.

Likely fearing that the game's immense popularity might stir trouble among the country's 1.4 billion citizens at a time of great global turmoil, they decided to pulled the plug.
