Speaking of franchises in desperate need of new instalments, Splinter Cell's immaculate - and completely underrated - Blacklist from 2013 restored a lot of fans' faith in the property overall. Yes, Ubi ballsed up by replacing Michael Ironside, but gameplay itself was returned to being all about stealth and using high-tech gadgets - something about as far away as you can get from multiple interrogation scenes and a goggle-less Sam Fisher.

As of August 2016 a member of Ubisoft leaked to NEOGaf that another game was in the works with Ironside returning yet again, though having ran this past my own contact inside Ubi, this appeared to be related to a Tom Clancy app with some Sam Fisher voice over than anything triple A-focused.

Still, Splinter Cell was once part of the holy trinity of stealth games alongside Hitman and Metal Gear Solid in the 2000s. The name still carries a lot of weight - certainly more than Watch Dogs, anyway - and if Ubi do decide to finally give us another instalment, it would please a lot of people.
