10 Hugely Beloved Video Game Sidekicks - Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Midna (Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess)
The Legend of Zelda series certainly has its fair share of sidekicks to partner Link on his neverending quest to rescue Zelda from Ganon. Unfortunately, a lot of them are just kind of annoying (looking at you, Navi) – but Midna from Twilight Princess definitely isn’t. She has her own agenda, and it’s nice to see a secondary character moving the story along for their own reasons, rather than just popping up to shout obvious information at Link.
Midna also actually has a personality, unlike many of your other companions down the years. It’s really cool to watch her transition from being actively antagonistic at the beginning, to grudgingly helpful halfway through, and finally to having a deep friendship with Link at the end of the game. When she finally says her goodbyes, it’s actually kind of heartbreaking to see her go, knowing she’ll never be able to come back.
Sure, she gives you a fair bit of flak at times, but hey – maybe if Link would actually speak once in a while, she might be a bit more easy-going.
