5. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' "Hot Coffee" Mod
"Hot Coffee", truthfully, probably deserved most of the negative attentin it got... Anyway, the aforementioned mod allowed gamers who played as CJ, to go around the town of San Andreas and have their way with willing women. Obviously, several people took exception to this digital debauchery, and Rockstar, the game's developer, caught a lot of criticism for it. Now, although this was a disabled minigame that was normally inaccessible (key word, "normally" ), this unleashed a firestorm of backlash from the ESRB, who nearly rated the the game "Adults Only" rather than "Mature". This wouldn't do much to dull the game's already stellar sales, and had little effect on the games already substantial publicity. However, let's back up here: this game lets you violently massacre pretty much anyone, deal drugs, destroy property, and all manner of sociopathic actions, and yet... people focused on the sex. Kids can be violent and destructive all they want, but OH DEAR GOD HELP US if they see a naked body. Logic. *sigh*
