Why We're Worried: Reboots are always a tricky business, especially when it comes to a 20-plus year-old game that's a critical darling and an undeniable cult favourite. Any perceived "fixes" or updates to bring it in line with modern gaming could easily rob the reboot of the original's charm, or it's entirely possible that gaming has simply moved on so much in over two decades that, without nostalgia goggles, System Shock doesn't really work today.
Why This Image Rocks: This is all it took to quell the doubts of System Shock fans the world over: it's the first image from a 9-minute gameplay video released at the end of June, and immediately solidifies that Night Dive Studios are taking this reboot seriously.
This isn't going to be some lazy remastering cranked out on the cheap, but a visually absorbing experience that feels incredibly of-the-moment, and it's clear from this still alone that it won't want for atmosphere.
