10 Important Video Game Plot Points Answered In DLC

Set in a post-apocalyptic world in which humanity has all but been wiped out by a fungal virus, The Last Of Us centres around the growing father-daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie as he’s tasked with escorting her to militia group The Fireflies. The youngster, we’re told, was bitten three weeks earlier and could potentially hold the answers to developing a cure.

Throughout their arduous journey, the pair are confronted with harrowing scenarios that paint the world as bleak and violent. However, at no point in the main game is it ever explained how the teenager came to be bitten.

It was only in the Left Behind DLC where we finally got to see Ellie’s story play out before she was united with Joel, and it was as heart-breaking as we’d expect.

Taking place within the confides of a mall, the expansion sees Ellie spending quality time with childhood friend and first love Riley before she relocates to another city. The pair have the time of their lives until a group of infected appear and they're forced to flee.

Both Ellie and Riley are bitten during this escape. And though they plan to spend their last moments together, we already know how that ends.
