10 Incredible Video Games Most People Abandoned At The Start

3. Death Stranding

Death Stranding is another game that certainly won't be for everyone, especially as it dials back Hideo Kojima's typically action-centric gameplay for something focused more on exploration and sheer vibes.

All the same, the world's most advanced walking simulator ended up with sky-high early DNFs, as 57.1% of those who started the game didn't even make it to the end of the second chapter.

Sure, you'll have to play around four-or-so hours to reach the end of chapter 2, but given that Death Stranding is a honking meal of a game with a critical path clocking in at around 35 hours, that's barely 10% of the mainline experience.

The game's first two chapters did admittedly receive their share of criticism for their sluggish pacing, enough that some critics even urged players to race through chapter 2 as fast as possible.

But evidently the more laid-back pacing of those opening hours was enough for some to turn the game off and never look back.

It'll certainly be interesting to see whether or not the impending Death Stranding 2: On the Beach kicks off with a little more forward-momentum.
