10 Incredible Video Games Most People Abandoned At The Start
2. Shadow of the Colossus
Given that cult games tend to invite more loyal commitment from players to see them through to the end, it's a surprise just how quickly so many players pulled the ripcord while playing Bluepoint's remake of the masterful Shadow of the Colossus.
Though the majority of players defeated the first two colossi - who, in the interest of easing players in, are absolute cake - the third colossus, Gaius, marked the point at which many fell off.
55.1% of players didn't make it past Gaius, and even accepting that he really feels like the first "proper" boss after two easy-peasy tutorial bosses, it's still shocking how few persevered.
Given that Shadow of the Colossus has sixteen bosses to fight through, and most players can beat the first three colossi in an hour or less, one can infer that many just didn't vibe with the puzzle-as-boss-fight aspect of the Gaius battle.
It's their loss, ultimately, because Shadow of the Colossus is bloody brilliant, of course.
