10 Incredibly Dumb Things Video Game Heroes Need To STOP DOING
1. Wearing Ridiculously Impractical Clothing
And finally, we're taking practically every JRPG ever made to task here, given how many of them dress their characters - especially the ladies - in clothing that makes no tactical or practical sense whatsoever.
Final Fantasy is the chief offender with its array of improbably-clothed heroines, most infamously Final Fantasy X's Lulu, whose costume is basically a series of belts which somehow clings to her body - possibly by way of her large bust.
Elsewhere there's fighting series SoulCalibur, which pushes fan service to self-parody levels with characters like Sophitia, Taki, and especially Ivy, who bears so much skin it must surely be a massive combat disadvantage, leaving her wide open to easy wounding.
You can argue that a lot of people love the fan service and it's supposed to make sense within the context of these worlds, but in 2020 it's tough not to view such character designs with something of a side-eye.
Characters can still be sexy without abandoning basic combat logic, after all.
