10 Infuriating Video Game Moments That Made You Rage Quit
9. Mario Kart - Losing A Race At The Last Second
Other than the fact that, well, it's Mario Kart, one of the reasons Nintendo's famous racing game is so popular is because of how quickly races can get turned on their head. It's designed so that it's hard to completely dominate a race against other people, with weaker racers getting better power-ups, and make an incredible comeback thanks to a couple of well-timed shells or lightning bolts. This is the perfect example of that whole 'agony-and-ecstasy' theory. It's a great feeling to get a lucky bunch of power-ups when you're in eighth place, then tear into the lead in the dying seconds to win the race, but it's equally infuriating when it's the other way round, and someone who's been losing for the whole race spiny-shells you, causing you to crash and slip on a banana peel, immediately after which you get smashed by a green shell from another racer, allowing the entire roster of Nintendo characters to whizz past you to the finish line. For the most part, it's hard to get too mad at anything related to the wonderful world of Mario, but this an emphatic exception.
