5. Young Psycho Mantis Will Appear

The Rumour: One of the more compellingly mysterious images shown off so far is that of a gas mask-wearing child who appears to possess the same telekinetic powers as one of Metal Gear Solid's best-loved bosses, Psycho Mantis. He conjures up a number of fire-infused images throughout the first trailer, including a gigantic, flaming blue whale, causing many to speculate that he is, in fact, a young Mantis himself.
How Likely Is It? Alright, so it's not that crazy. In fact, we'd be pretty shocked if this didn't turn out to be true: given how much fans would love to learn more about Mantis' past, and how little is really known about his youth, this one has to be on the money, right? The only thing working against it is that Kojima could be playing us a little, as it could very well be a young female under the mask. Given the rather tragic nature of Mantis' character, we expect he'll be of use to Big Boss during the game, and hopefully won't just be relegated to a cameo during Boss' escape from the hospital.
