4. David Hayter Will Be Back
The Rumour: One of the few disappointing snippets of news about The Phantom Pain is that David Hayter, the long-standing voice actor for Solid Snake and Big Boss, will apparently not be returning to voice Big Boss, with Kiefer Sutherland instead taking on the part as Kojima wished for a "new voice" for a "new direction" in the series. Still, some can't help but think that this may all be some form of an elaborate ruse, and even if Hayter doesn't end up voicing Big Boss for the whole game, he may have contributed a voice-over role of some kind.
How Likely Is It? It would be pretty freaking ridiculous to bring in an actor of Kiefer Sutherland's fame (and cost) for a small role, so unless that body double theory pans out, we just can't see this one coming true. That said, it's pretty strange that Kojima has maintained the services of long-time Solid Snake/Big Boss voice actor Akio tsuka for the Japanese version of the game: surely he should replace him too? Still, we'll be crossing our fingers that Hayter might get to voice another character, or perhaps figure in some sort of surreal PTSD sequence as the "voices" in BB's head fight with one another.
2/10.
