10 Instant-Kill Boss Fights That Were Just Insulting
3. Mike Tyson - Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (1987)
Long before Ormstein and Smough were flattening players in Dark Souls, the pinnacle of difficult video game bosses was Mike Tyson in NES boxing game Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!.
Earning a reputation for knocking out many of his challengers within the first round, the undefeated champion was a ferocious force to be reckoned with inside the ring. It was only fitting, then, that his video game counterpart lived up to the champion's name.
After battling the game's roster of 13 other charismatic fighters that put up their own challenge, the time came to go toe-to-toe against Iron Mike himself. Possessing a flurry of jabs and body blows that will have underdog hero Little Mac hitting the canvas before players know what happened, this fight plays out like Tyson's own matches.
The most dangerous part of the fight is its first 90 seconds. It's here where Tyson can perform powerful uppercuts that will knock players out in a single blow. A defeat will then send players back to the start of the game where they'll have to earn a rematch.
Toppling Tyson requires near perfect precision in what is still regarded as one of the most difficult video game bosses.
