10 Most Intriguing Indie Gaming Releases Yet To Come In 2014

8. Cuphead

Cuphead looks incredible. Its not got dynamic lighting effects, or particle physics, or even complex physics. Cuphead has got style. The game designers have returned to a painted style of animation, reminiscent of 1930's cartoons, like Popeye and Betty Boop. The effect is both charming and cool. The gameplay features traditional run and gun mechanics, but combines that with a traditional fighting game, allowing the developers to revel in their retro vibes, both in terms of gameplay and graphics. On top of that the developers are hoping to break a world record with this game €“ the record is not for cutest man with a cup for a head, rather they are trying to create the game with the most boss fights in history. If that's a legitimate attempt, rather than just a piece of clever publicity, it should make for an awesome game. With both single player and co-op game modes this game is shaping up to be a real smash in 2014, and though only a PC release is confirmed at the moment the developers say they are pursuing a console release.
