10 Most Intriguing Indie Gaming Releases Yet To Come In 2014
9. The Stomping Land
Humans never walked the earth with Dinosaurs, although The Flintstones would have you believe otherwise, The Stomping Ground could make that fantasy a reality. Dinosaurs have been underutilized in modern gaming, with Turok being perhaps the only major game to be based around our prehistoric pals. The Stomping Land does not put you in the role of wiping out the Dinosaurs one by one, and you are not a powerful creature. You are a puny human the game is based around survival, which is a common theme in gaming at the moment, and this time around your mission is consuming dinosaur meat. You must scavenge the kills of the large dinosaurs, stealing as much meat from their carcasses as you can without feeling the wrath of the other, much larger, carnivores that surround you. With this alone the game would be considered interesting, but in order to make it onto the list it needed to do something special. That special thing is riding on the back of one dinosaur in order to battle another dinosaur, and that is awesome. A hunter could be riding on the back of a Triceratops, hunting down and attacking an Iguanodon. That is something intrinsically cool, and the developers boast that the hunters will be able to mount even the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, using it to attack other beasts. Riding a T-Rex into battle makes everything seem better; it would have certainly improved The Flintstones.
