10 Jaw-Dropping Masked Villain Reveals In Video Games

Insomniac's second instalment in their Spider-Man series presents rather a different take on the classic Marvel comics villain, the Tinkerer. Traditionally a frail old man, this incarnation offers a much younger, more battle-ready version of the character, complete with an all-new high-tech mask.

A technological genius, the Tinkerer's equipment allows for superhuman strength, speed and durability, as well as powerful energy beams fired from advanced gauntlets. During a mid-game scuffle on the Braithwaite Bridge, Miles Morales's Spider-Man gets a brief look at the villain without their mask, discovering that she's actually Phin Mason, his best friend from childhood, who wants revenge on Roxxon for the death of her brother.

Sure, it's only really a shock revelation to non-comic fans, as, despite the gender swap, people familiar with Marvel will no doubt recognise the character's name. But even then, the impact it has on Miles still carries a lot of weight within the story, and it's refreshing to see such an original take on a villain whose identity is not usually a secret.
