10 Jaw-Dropping Video Game Fan Theories That Make Everything Better

2. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - Otacon Imagines All The Crazy Stuff

Thousands of Metal Gear fans were (and continue to be) utterly outraged at the fact the re-released version of the original Metal Gear Solid only ever made an appearance on the Gamecube.

Yeah we know the original Metal Gear's saw the light of day on the NES, but come on Kojima, why not give us a Sony version? Regardless, one of the biggest differences between the original and the remake is the direction of the cutscenes. Where before we had Snake take a rocket launcher to the roof of a tower to confront his brother, who was inside a helicopter gunship. Instead, on the GC version Liquid Snake actually lets fly a rocket in Snake's direction, to which he manages to backflip onto, only to launch himself back off and fire another missile back at the gunship, destroying it.

It was a completely ludicrous scene that to be honest would almost work in the world's of MGS2 or 3 with either Vamp or The Fear on acrobat duties. As it stood here though, many fans of the slightly more 'realistic' sensibilities of the original were utterly put off.

However, the saving grace is that thanks to a certain fan theory purporting to the idea that due to how much Otacon idolises Snake, the whole thing is him imagining how the battle played out, based off his interaction with Snake, and the way the scenes are introduced and edited.

There's no other information to support this other than just the want to believe it, but hey, it definitely makes everything okay again - at least until the next ridiculous thing happens and Otacon's nowhere to be found.
