10 Jaw-Dropping Video Game Fan Theories That Make Everything Better
3. Silent Hill 2: James' True Horror
One of the best horror franchises in gaming hit its defining high point with part two, where not only was the atmosphere and art direction incredibly effective at conveying the dilapidated town of Silent Hill itself, but we also got one total zinger of a plot twist along the way.
In addition to the realisation that you actually brought all of this on yourself after murdering your own wife and repressing the memory, many fans have assumed that as we never see such a thing, the body of Mary is nowhere near us throughout the game.
However, a truly horrifying idea - that was later half-confirmed by one of the team Masahiro Ito - is that Mary's body was in the trunk of your car the whole time. Ito's twist on the popular theory was that it was actually in the backseat, only James couldn't see it due to his level of repression around his actions.
Although the game features multiple endings, the 'In Water' version has James state that "now can be together" by driving into the lake and committing suicide. What this could really mean is that following the revelations throughout the game, he's now aware of where Mary really is, making that their final resting place.
