10 Mind-Bending Video Games That Will RUIN You

8. Tunic (2022)

Although this colourful isometric action title looks like a cosy, Zelda-inspired adventure, Tunic isn't as welcoming as its adorable anthropomorphic protagonist suggests. Underneath its vibrant art style, this indie gem is a brutally difficult outing that demands a lot from its players.

While a large chunk of Tunic's difficulty stems from its collection of punishing enemies and bosses, the main challenge comes from how players are expected to figure everything out for themselves.

Alongside dropping players into the world without any direction or objective, every piece of text and dialogue is written in its own unique language. The only clues for what to do are found within the scattered pages of an in-game manual, which are also written in the same strange language.

While making sense of these cryptic hints is enough of a puzzle for players to obsess over for hours, this is a trivial brain teaser compared to some of the later riddles that players will be faced with. The most notorious of them all is The Golden Path, a 100-button code obtained from deciphering abstract hints hidden within the virtual manual.

Despite its cutesy exterior, Tunic is a deceptively mind-bending game for players to lose themselves in.
