10 Moments That Made You Quit Gaming For Good
4. Fighting C’Thun (World Of Warcraft)
World of Warcraft is an open-ended MMORPG with no real finish line, per sé. And so the concept of an unbeatable opponent would serve almost as a paradox in the game, a full stop where there shouldn't be one.
C'Thun was, for a time, the closest WoW will ever come to a locked door in the world of Azeroth, and he sent many an avid player into delirium simply because he could not be overcome.
Obviously this was an issue for serious World of Warcraft inhabitants, who are used to the simpler formula of "High enough level + good gear + the right raid party = no enemy can't be beat."
Someone forgot to tell C'Thun.
This tentacle-spawning summoner of deaths reigned undefeated for months until Blizzard admitted that, okay, maybe he was broken.
Not even the highest DPS imaginable could best C'Thun at his most dastardly. This included a chain attack that got more powerful the more of your party it linked—and could insta-kill your party at its front door—as well as deadly tentacles spawning inside the supposed "safe zone" in his stomach.
Blizzard listened, nerfed the Kraken-esque tormenter, and he was beaten within a day. Upset the WoW community at your own risk.
