10 MORE Bosses Removed For Being Too Hard

These bosses were removed for being too damn difficult.

We've all played our fair share of games where we've been stumped on a difficulty spike boss for a good while, perhaps even enough that we ended up putting the game down for a time, or even binning it off for good.

But every so often, a difficult boss might end up getting removed from the game entirely.

And so, as a sequel to our previous article on the very subject, here are 10 more bosses that were removed for just being too damn hard.

Some of these bosses actually made it to the final retail release before being cut, while others were deleted in the development process once the team realised that the encounter just wasn't fun for players.

Things get scrapped in games all the time, but considering how far along some of these boss fights were - some having even been experienced by players - it's truly surprising that each was given the chop.

While in some cases players might lament that which they can't play, for more casual-minded gamers who don't care for brutal difficulty, these cuts were surely for the best...

10. Dragoon Shirley - The Legend of Dragoon

God of War
Sony

Classic RPG The Legend of Dragoon features a rather unconventional boss fight against the Dragoon Shirley, which eschews the expected combat in favour of a Q&A session where Shirley asks you a series of questions to test your worthiness and you simply need to give the correct answers.

Sony apparently originally programmed a more typical, combat-driven boss fight against Shirley into the game, before they stopped for a second and realised one major issue - every enemy in the game has unlimited MP.

And given that Shirley has the White-Silver Dragoon Spirit in her possession, this combo would theoretically allow her to fully heal herself every single turn, making her effectively impossible to beat.

And so, the apparently fastest solution was to simply rip the boss fight out of the game and rework it as a non-standard "battle" where you just need to answer a few questions instead.

It certainly works well enough as something different and unexpected, but if you're wondering why this happened at all, there's your answer.
