10 More Secret Video Game Shortcuts You DEFINITELY Missed
4. Silent Hill - No Ammo, No Boss
1999's Silent Hill is known for its creepy tone and atmosphere.
As Harry Mason, you enter the town to find your daughter, but instead discover a survival horror experience like no other as the area is filled with skinless monsters and masked by an endless fog. This adds to the game's difficulty as the fog adds a layer of tension and uncertainty. The title is considered one of the best in the genre and has spawned numerous sequels.
The original's final boss has a lightning blast that severely damages Harry and can be a pain for players. Of course, being the last hurdle, the difficulty spike is quite understandable. But if you don't feel like you're up for it, the game surprisingly helps you out.
Before entering the final area, make sure that Harry doesn't have any ammo left. On the other hand, you can keep the bullets but ensure that you don't have the weapon for it. With no available means to defend yourself, the boss dies by itself, rather than subject players to a one-sided fight.
There is some debate whether this was a glitch or something programmed by the developers themselves. Regardless, it is one of the few instances when a video game shows mercy to the player.
