Beethoven and Dinosaur, the developers behind The Artful Escape, return with Mixtape - a music-centric coming-of-age adventure game set in 1990s America, following three friends on their last night together.
The game is presented as a musical mixtape as players experience the group's most powerful memories, envisioned here through a series of diverse vignettes, ranging from skateboarding levels to flying and baseball mini-games.
And it's not unfair to assume that a major chunk of the game's budget was spent on its all-timer collection of banger tracks from the likes of DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and The Cure.
On top of all this it's also absolutely gorgeous, rocking a painterly aesthetic and stop-motion-esque style that's all the rage these days. If you're sorely missing the vibe of the Life Is Strange games, Mixtape certainly looks like it'll fill the void for a little while.
Mixtape is set to release later this year.
