2. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid fans have had one hell of a long wait for a fourth Metroid Prime, given that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption released all the way back in 2007.

But it's finally almost here - a two-decades-in-the-making sequel that'll also be Samus Aran's first outing on the shiny Nintendo Switch 2 hardware (while also releasing for the O.G. Switch).

Beyond sees Samus once again fighting for her survival against untold alien dangers, this time on the planet Viewros, but the big, juicy hook this time around is that Samus now has psychic abilities, which she can use to operate mechanisms such as doors.

It's a neat trick for the franchise, even though for the most part Beyond appears to be a prettier, slicker version of the tried-and-true 3D Metroid gameplay we all know and love.

Just don't make us wait so damn long for the next one Nintendo, OK?

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to release later this year.
