10 Most Brutally Difficult NES Games EVER

9. Ghosts 'n Goblins

Capcom

Ghosts 'n Goblins is back in the limelight thanks to the recent release of Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection on Nintendo Switch.

That game reimagines this old NES classic, updating it for all us older fans, and allowing the younger generation of gamers a chance to understand the pain we sometimes associated with gaming. It's a pain that can only be truly understood though, by playing the original.

Another product of Capcom's impressive production, this game arrived a couple of years before Mega Man was released, but it can be guaranteed people were still trying to complete this disgustingly hard game by the time it came out. Heck, there are still people trying to complete it now. Some guy on Reddit took 28 years to complete this game. 28 YEARS!

Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES was a rite of passage. The mere feeling of passing the first level is akin to completing the game, not that many know what that feels like.

Why? Because the sadistic developers kid you into believing you've completed the game, only to make you play the entire thing again to get to the proper final boss as you're left crying at the television screaming "why!?!?

Avid writer of nonsense. Can often be seen in his natural habitat watching far too many films and not enough TV. Occasionally plays on the Xbox and Megadrive whilst chastising himself for not writing more.
