10 Most Brutally Hard Levels In Dark Souls History

1. Duke's Archives

Guard dogs and CCTV are such primitive forms of home invasion prevention, what everyone really needs are rabid boars clad head to toe in sheets of steel armor. Seath the Scaleless certainly believes they're a potent deterrent, but then again, this is the same insane dragon that's taken to grafting crystals to both himself and every mindless undead he can get his claws on.

That crystal, apparently, offers the same sort of benefit as downing a tub of steroids, because the sparkly variants you come across here can send you packing back to a bonfire quicker than you can blink.

One on one they'd be fine, but they only come in packs and, adding insult to injury, they're backed up by our old friends the Channellers. Just like they did back in The Depths and Undead Burg, the trident-wielding freaks will dance their little hearts out and give a damage boost to all enemies in the immediate vicinity.

If that doesn't snuff out any remaining will you had to go on, the disorienting nature of the Archives themselves will. Imagine being stuck inside an M. C. Escher painting and you're pretty much spot on.

You need to brush up on your people skills, Seath - this is not how you greet guests.
