Away from the bombastic showings and needless spectacle that usually accompanies EA's E3 conferences, the publisher's event last year was actually a more down to earth and stripped back affair. But just when you think the company, twice voted most hated in America, has re-discovered their roots, they come out with a needlessly extravagant and style over substance 2015 showing.

And nothing highlighted the pointless spectacle of the event more than the utterly mis-judged guest appearance from a real life Plants vs Zombies zombie. Coming out to the stage for a minute or so to the tune of "Danger Zone" there was no real set up or pay-off to the gag, and it had many viewers wondering what the point was in the first place.

Being ushered off stage with an off-hand "You can't take zombies anywhere" the skit came across as even more awkward because it happened immediately after the reveal of the small scale game Unravel, which was presented by its genuinely endearing creator, who's nervous passion and excitement was quickly squashed by a man in a cheap zombie outfit.
