10 Most Disappointing Games of 2012

6. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

If you throw out what you loved about past Resident Evil games, you get this - a sad excuse for a third person shooter, which I had the misfortune of playing. If, for whatever reason, you bought the game, you too would know what I mean. Not only are your teammates non-existent, they are counter-productive: if they spent as much time fighting zombies as they do shooting the air, we'd be golden, but unfortunately all planes flying over Raccoon City are now riddled with bullet-holes. The game would have been a great arcade game for first-graders with their parents spare change, but it was just too broken: if you lived through all the terrible AI, the terrible gun mechanics would kill you. Choosing guns became a game in its own right, mostly because everything changed if you were unfortunate enough to chose a shotgun. The game is almost impossible to beat unless you use an machine gun, which makes every level all too similar. At the end of the game the players are given a choice, fight with or against Leon Kennedy, and if you made the decision to do the later, then chances are you are still playing the game. Fighting with Kennedy is way too easy and fighting him is near impossible, making the "choice" useless. The game was terrible and made a fool of the once loved series. Lately the Resident Evil franchise has been disappointing, with Res. Evil 5 and 6, but nothing will ever be as bad as Operation Raccoon City. Quite simply, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who enjoys survival-horror or any fan of the Resident Evil series.
