The trio spend their days completing missions and eating ice cream at the top of the clock tower in Twilight Town and seem inseparable. It soon becomes clear through Xion’s status of being ranked number fourteen in an organisation still claiming to have only thirteen members that she does not quite belong.

It is later revealed that unlike the other Nobodies, Xion is a flawed replica of Sora created via his memories of Kairi. Her very existence is preventing Sora’s memories from being restored, because they are flowing into her instead.

Initially, while the Organisation makes use of her ability to use the Keyblade, she spends most of her time panicking that they are going to turn her into a Dusk - a mindless entity under their command. Therefore, when Xion discovers the truth, she decides to return to Sora, since her existence is negatively affecting both him and Roxas.

And so she battles Roxas, so he will absorb her memories, despite being fully aware that neither he, nor Axel will remember her or their time eating ice cream together.
