10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Kingdom Hearts
9. Kingdom Hearts III - Kairi Needs To Be Saved Again
The previous games and trailers for Kingdom Hearts III heavily implied that Kairi - having gained a Keyblade- was now training in order to hone her skills and would become a great asset in fighting the darkness.
However, despite these expectations, Kairi is not a main playable character within this game and is literally sidelined. Her story arc consists of her training before appearing in the Keyblade Graveyard near the end of the game.
Whilst an emphasis is placed upon her position as a Princess of Heart, as well as a Guardian of Light-meaning her heart less easily succumbs to darkness- she never really gets to actively utilise this to repel danger. Even in the Keyblade Graveyard, despite her desire to protect her friends, Kairi is swept up by the Demon Tide.
While her strength of heart allows her to keep Sora alive, it can’t save her from being abducted by Xemnas. As the other characters continue their battles, Kairi is then revealed as being unconscious before being struck down as part of Xehanort’s plan to reforge the X-blade.
Once again, Sora sacrifices himself to save Kairi, despite her training and desire to grow stronger.
