10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Kingdom Hearts

8. Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep- Xehanort's Plan Succeeds

Kingdom Hearts Goofy Dies

Set ten years before the events of the first Kingdom Hearts game, it was almost impossible for this prequel to have a happy ending. However, with the previous games having a balance of light and dark events, it seemed plausible that this game would follow a similar formula.

However, whilst the game starts with the protagonists (Ventus, Terra and Aqua) being close friends and training together, Xehanort is soon introduced along with the mysterious Vanitas. They deliberately exploit the insecurities of each protagonist to separate and spread distrust between the trio as they are unknowingly manipulated.

This leads to disastrous consequences. Determined to challenge the darkness in his heart, Terra eventually becomes a vessel for Xehanort, whilst Ventus pursues him convinced that if he cannot bring Terra home then he is weaker than his friends. Meanwhile, Aqua is determined to save them both, whether they want to be saved or not.

By the end of the game, the friends are scattered, as Xehanort has a new vessel, Ventus’ heart has been shattered and Aqua is trapped in the Realm of Darkness. Whilst this sets up the chronological events for the original game, each protagonist has an incredibly bleak storyline.
