10 Most Overrated Video Games Of The Past Decade
1. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Without a shadow of a doubt, Breath of the Wild is the most overrated game of the decade, maybe of all-time.
What could possible warrant such a statement? Well, it comes down to two things really; the game itself just isn't all that, and the gaming industry's Nintendo Bias.
It's no secret that much of the games media has a soft spot for Nintendo and, as such, often goes a little easier when reviewing the company's games. Can you imagine if Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker released as one of PS4's big games this year? It definitely wouldn't be sitting as 82% on Metacritic.
Vice versa, if Sea of Thieves was a Switch game, it would probably have more than 69%.
As for the game itself, well it's empty. The world is big and pretty, the physics are almost second-to-none, and it boasts some great attention-to-detail. That said, there isn't much to do beyond vanquishing enemies, collecting rupees, and finding Shrines. Toss in some rough voice acting and a naff story and you can see the cracks.
For what it's worth, Breath of the Wild is not a bad game by any stretch, it's just the most overrated.
