Famous Hollywood action star, Johnny Cage is a franchise mainstay, being playable in every Mortal Kombat game excluding 2004’s Mortal Kombat: Deception. He is one of the series comic relief characters, especially in the recent games of 2011’s Mortal Kombat, 2015’s Mortal Kombat X and 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11 where he often makes humorous quips at the start of matches.
In the original timeline, Cage enters the first Mortal Kombat tournament to ensure his Hollywood legacy and ends up becoming a defender of Earthrealm. He is killed by the centaur Motaro in Mortal Kombat 3 and again by the titular Deadly Alliance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, being resurrected both times. In the current timeline, he has become a member of the Special Forces and has a child, Cassie Cage, with fellow Special Forces member Sonya Blade.
