10 Most Powerful Card Effects In Magic The Gathering
From gaining mana to winning the game, what are the most powerful effects in Magic the Gathering?

Magic the Gathering has been going for 27 years, and in that time it has released over 55 different sets totalling over 20,000 unique cards, so needless to say there's a lot of variety. While many of these cards are run of the mill, perhaps being good in the set they were made for or in certain modes, some stand out as having some of the most obnoxious and ridiculous effects in the entire game.
Some cards are powerful because they do a lot of good little things, but not these once. Instead of focusing on the cards themselves, this list will focus on the individual effects which can turn a card from good to groundbreaking.
For balance reasons, this list will not include any of the parody sets like Unstable and Unhinged as none of them are legal in tournament play and many would make this list without question, so this list will only focus on card effects which you can actually use in your games.

10. Gain 2 Mana
This might seem a little underwhelming in a list full of hard-hitting effects, but it shouldn’t be underestimated. Cards like Sol Ring and Mana Crypt are able to tap to provide you with 2 colourless mana which might seem like not much at all but can potentially be game breaking.
Enough of these cards early on in a game can massively ramp up your mana pool and jumpstart your deck as you find yourself in the mid-game while your opponent is still playing 1/1s and 2/2s. Getting the head start on your opponent is nothing to roll your eyes at, and while this effect might not be particularly exciting, it is definitely powerful.
There’s a reason that Sol Ring in particular is regarded as one of the best Magic the Gathering cards ever created and it acts as a staple in just about every EDH deck as well as various other formats.
