Unlike everything else on this list, Luvdisc is actually based on an animal, specifically the discus fish (in terms of shape) and the kissing gourami (in terms of the kissing fish concept). It should therefore be immune from accusations that it is based on something ludicrous. Just one look at the thing is enough to reverse that thought, however.

Luvdisc literally serves no other function other than to resemble a love heart and be the main source of Heart Scale items, which allow Pokémon to remember forgotten moves. It is woefully outmatched in battle and doesn't evolve into anything, even though a very similar creature was introduced in Black and White in the form of Alomamola. This itself doesn't evolve from or into anything, becoming a wasted opportunity to make Luvdisc less pointless.

One of many, many water Pokémon introduced in Generation III, it stands out amongst the absolute worst, both within its type and the Pokédex as a whole. Presumably there are some who find it adorable, but there are plenty of other creatures who fulfill that criteria whilst also serving a purpose of some kind.
