10 Most Successful Crowdfunded Video Games Of All Time

4. Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire

Pillars of eternity 2
Obsidian

After enjoying massive success with the original Pillars of Eternity and earning the respect of players for actually delivering a brilliant crowd-funded project, Obsidian Entertainment returned to Fig in January 2017 to announce a sequel, with the aim of this time raising $1.1 million

With the original title gaining popularity amongst hardcore RPG fans as well and establishing Obsidian themselves as one of the most dependable studios working in the industry, the project quickly hit its target, eventually going on to earn even more than its predecessor and topping out at $4.4 million.

Fortunately, it was already in production for a year before the team turned to fans to fund the rest of the project, meaning that it's actually not far away from release, scheduled to drop in April 2018.

Of course, there's still a chance that it could be a disappointing sequel, but considering how good Obsidian are, as well as how amazing the first game was, fans should have the utmost confidence in the final release.
