The Evil Within is jam-packed with gnarly enemies to contend with. The likes of The Keeper, Sadist, and The Hunted present twisted weapon-wielding psychos, whereas monsters like Heresy, Quell, and Trauma scratch that grotesque body horror itch. 

Then there's Laura. Oh Laura, she's the scariest of them all, and it's not even close. 

Laura arrives on the scene in Chapter Four, exploding out of a corpse in a morgue with a blood-curdling scream. This intense introduction is but a sign of the nightmare to come. After appearing, she ruthlessly chases you down, relentlessly battling through your attempts to evade her. When you finally do, you'll feel like you've outrun the devil themselves. 

She appears a few more times throughout the game, and it's hard to get used to her as those spindly, spider-like legs are horrifying to look at. On top of that, her tragic backstory - being a manifestation of an innocent girl's brutal death - adds a healthy dose of melancholy to the terror.
