5. Call Of Duty: Black Ops - Vorkuta
There are a rare few moments in Call Of Duty campaigns that are truly special. The second mission of the excellent Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the series best, but you may have forgotten about it amidst other explosive set pieces.
Vorkuta has Mason liberating and escaping an oppressive Russian labour camp with Reznov in tow. What is so powerful about this mission is the mantra they run through as they're planning the operation. They have an 8 strong list of commands including 'Ascend from Darkness', 'Skewer the Winged Beast' and finally 'Freedom'.
You follow Reznov and your band of brothers as you execute guards, rally troops and procure weapons to create a militia.
One of the best moments comes when you 'Wield a Fist of Iron', an overkill Death Machine minigun to thin out the enemies, allowing you to escape on motorbikes, firing Model 1887 shotguns from the back seat. This mission is special in how it uses it's linear format to its own advantage, delivering an engaging experience in the process.
