10 Moves PlayStation MUST Make
2. End The PS4
Back in 2020, Microsoft made it clear that the then-upcoming XBox Series consoles would painlessly play XBox One games. Playstation head honcho Jim Ryan attempted to score points off this statement, promising the Sony fanbase that "We believe in generations".
18 months later and Jim has been left eating a sizable portion of humble pie, with a side order of œuf sur le visage.
Despite making like Kylo Ren and telling the world that the PS5 would leave the past behind, Sony's new machine still lives in the shadow of its older brother. A sizable number of former PS5 exclusives - from the recently released Gran Turismo 7 to the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok - have been transformed into cross-gen games during their development times, and it's holding the PS5 back.
We know that console shortages have played a part in Sony's decision-making, but 2022 needs to be the year Sony says goodbye to the PS4. The PS4 came out in 2013, and the fact that PS5 games are being built to accommodate hardware nearly a decade old would have been unthinkable even a couple of years ago.
