10 Obscure Games You Might Not Have Tried

6. The Sam & Max Series

sam and max Telltale Games are company that seem to be embarking on quite a courageous task; they're trying to bring the point-and-click adventure game back into the limelight. Adventure games have been obsolete for quite a few years now, so when Telltale came along and releases several high quality adventure games, I decided to check them out, and by far the best is the Sam & Max series. Not for any kind of revolutionary gameplay or incredibly original stories (though it does have both those things occasionally), but for how side-splittingly, belly-achingly, pounding-your-fist-on-the-desk hilarious it is. The writing is so brilliant and so sharp, that each episode will have you on the floor in fits of laughter. Any of the three 'seasons' are good, which each encapsulate five episodes (except season 1, which has six). You can buy the episodes separately if you want, but I find it's better to buy the whole season and plow through it in a week. Try Sam & Max, you won't regret it. Sam & Max Save The World (Season One) and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space (Season Two) are available on Steam and GOG.com for $29.99, on the Wii, and on the Xbox Live Arcade for 1600 Microsoft Points. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (Season Three) is available on Steam, GOG.com, and Playstation Network for $34.99.

Born in London, England, James is a media sponge. He consumes media of all shapes and sizes, from movies, to games, to music. He'll take it all. Apart from spending most of his life surrounded by media (his parents are musicians and his brother is a writer), he has been writing film reviews professionally for almost two years, and spends most of his time watching films, playing video games, and generally being an extremely anti-social person. Luckily, that leaves him a lot of time to write articles, such as the ones you will see on this page. Enjoy!
