The Confusing Moment

As acclaimed as Alien: Isolation was, fans have been speculating about the bizarre absence of the Xenomorph Queen ever since the game's 2014 release.

Considering that the game features alien eggs, facehuggers, and even a cocooning sequence later on, it wouldn't really make sense that there isn't a Queen onboard the space station Sevastopol, in addition to the "drone" Xenomorph we battle throughout.

The Clue

There are several brief moments in the game that hint very subtly at the presence of the Queen on Sevastopol, as her distinctive scream can be faintly heard in the background numerous times.

Even if you pawn this off as a mere Easter egg, the developers themselves confirmed it in the book The Art of Alien: Isolation.

The book mentions that the player's trek into a Xenomorph nest originally featured a cameo by the Queen, but upon realising it would get players' hopes up for a battle with the creature, they removed it.

The book also adds that the Queen is canonically on Sevastopol during the events of the game, but simply isn't ever seen on-camera. Fair enough.
