10 Online Gaming Tactics That Will Make Everyone Hate You

5. Pretending You're A Woman To Get Gear

I have several male friends who are frequent perpetrators of this; they'll create a new character on World of Warcraft, and set the gender to female, because they're well aware that playing a woman will guarantee an easier time getting to the level cap. I'd rather not indulge the stereotype associated with WoW - that its user-base is primarily composed of socially deprived men who are terrified of women in real life - but there's a lot to be said for how well-treated females - or those who pretend to be female - are in the game world. Play a female, and make it outwardly clear that you, the player, are female, and you'll get a swarm of guys offering to help you quest, give you gear, and so on. Sure, they might want to marry your character in return, but it's a small price to pay for such a smooth path through the immense game. Of course, if they ever find out you're a guy, I advise fleeing to another server, or better yet, just making another character, one that's male this time...
