10 PlayStation Problems Sony Want You To Forget
8. Releasing The PSPGo WAY Too Early
If released in 2019, the PSPGo would be cutting edge and would fit nicely in with its contemporaries. However, in 2009 people were simply not ready to accept the handheld.
Why? Because the main idea behind the PSPGo was doing away with physical media altogether; all of its games being digital downloads.
Unfortunately, in 2009 digital media was still a burgeoning platform and streaming services and high speed internet had not become ubiquitous. The idea of not being able to purchase physical media put a lot of people off immediately.
However, Sony's strange decision-making reared its head in other aspects of the console's failures.
The battery was fixed and could not be replaced, and region locking restricted each console to a single PSN account. Once again, Sony were quick to abandon the console when fans did not flock to it, resigning the PSPGo to Sony's abandoned ideas graveyard.
